Standards of policing in Barnet will be examined next year in a new inspection programme announced by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) this week.
The Local Inspection Programme is expected to take place in October 2002 as part of a two-year London-wide internal inspection, with an action plan of set, monitored improvements to follow. The programme is designed to find areas of excellence and areas in need of improvement within London's police service and sharing knowledge among borough forces.
Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, head of policy, review and standards, said: "Acknowledging hard work, recognising best practice and ensuring it is implemented across the Service, and tackling the things that need to change will help to raise standards in policing."
