I can envisage the Bexley highway department sitting down on a Monday morning and thinking, "how can we annoy the motorist this week?
"I know, let's put some unnecessary humps in the road and change some road signs, to justify the department and use up the budget money."
It would help if it showed the research it has done to quantify these changes!
There are many roads which need attention before these changes take place. These improvements would make Bexley roads safe for all users.
Bexley should learn from the mistakes of a neighbouring borough Bromley, for instance.
I suggest the council travels along Sandy Lane, on the borders of Bexley and Bromley, to see what happens to the humps there.
These have not been serviced and you can see large gouges in the road surface where vehicles have come in contact with the road, owing to these humps being in disrepair.
They should be 100mm in height but, owing to wear and tear, they are higher, damaging vehicles.
Please let common sense prevail.
Listen to the residents of Bexley when they say "no" to the proposed changes for the Bexley Village road scheme.
