A CARING Woodford Green resident has come up with an ingenious plan to give parents with prams an easier passage.
Richard White, 51, from Roding Lane, Woodford Green, has helped put into action a new pathway for prams between Roding Lane and Claybury North.
Mr White originally made the suggestion through a council leaflet put through his letter box.
The suggested route will allow mums to take their children along Vicarage Road instead of up Roding Lane North which is a five-metre uphill slope.
Mr White, who is single, has walked the route himself and has found walking along Vicarage Road a vast improvement over Roding Lane. He said: "I made the suggestion for the benefit of the local children and mums who have to push heavy prams up steep hills."
Redbridge Council has offered funding to have dropped kerbs for the pathway, once the best place for the pram route has been approved. It has not yet been agreed whether signposting could also be introduced if the plan goes ahead.
