A SPEED gun is the latest weapon to fight careless drivers speeding through the Dartford town centre.
The £3,500 gun will be used in conjunction with a pre-Christmas drink drive campaign and help police respond more rapidly to the problem.
Previously speed enforcement was only carried out by the central speed enforcement section, at police headquarters in Maidstone, Kent.
A Dartford Borough Council officer said: "There have been ongoing problems within the town centre, where drivers drive around the town at speed and it has worsened recenlty.
The speed gun has been paid for by Dartford Borough Council out of the Identified Initiatives Reserve for Community Initiatives.
