AN investigation is to be held into whether the council failed in a £90,000 pledge to renovate the Pump House site in South Access Road, Walthamstow.
There is no need for an investigation. The council DID agree, not only to renovate the site but also to build a new children's centre there called The Limes.
Lindsey Collier, who runs the Pump House site, has every right to be surprised by the council's U-turn.
A substantial amount of money from the NOW grant for the St James Park area of the borough has still not been spent on the Pump House project as agreed with the Low Hall steering committee meetings that I attended as a member, along with Barbara Raynor, chairwoman of the local residents group.
A public inquiry is needed to sort this whole matter out. Residents agreed unanimously that the centre be built as soon as possible.
J.W.HEPTING,
Secretary of the Residents'
Association, Clacton Road,
Walthamstow
