HAVING just driven through Leytonstone, I must congratulate the council on the beautiful display of Christmas lights adorning the lampposts. It looks very festive and brightens the place up.
However, I continued along Leytonstone High Road to the part known as south Leytonstone where I have lived for the past 27 years. Sadly the lights stop long before this, and as usual the people of south Leytonstone (commonly known as the poor end of the borough) have nothing festive to look at, although I presume we will have the tree at Harrow Green as usual.
Why, when we also pay council tax down this end, are we always treated as second-class citizens?
