LOUGHTON AC took part in the Essex League Cross Country fixture at the weekend and saw their young athletes and the senior women's team performing with distinction.
In the U15 girls event, over 3.2k, Amy Stumbke produced her best ever league placing to come home seventh in a time of 14min 52sec while the U13 boys race saw Oliver Heeks finish sixth in 13min 59sec.
The combined women's U17/U20 race saw Elissa Cioni finish third overall and second in the U20 category, in a time of 20min 4sec.
In the same race, Sian Slade finished sixth overall and was the third U17 to finish in 21min 12sec.
The senior womens team came sixth to maintain their fifth place league standing. First home was Mary Hobbs in 14th place in 33min 21sec over the 6.4k course.
f=Zapf Dingbats lo In the Ware Cup fixture over a 5k course at the Roding Valley fields in Loughton, the first woman home was Amanda Hardy in 38th place overall and third woman home in a time of 45min 13sec. She was followed by Lara Regan (43rd) and Caroline Mills (46th).
The senior men were placed third as a team, with first finisher being Jim Whiffin in 13th place in 36min 13sec. He was followed by Ian Hollyer in 20th, Richard Teague (21st), Steve Hall (22nd) and Paul Young (23rd)
