An invited audience of local residents, community groups and businesses will be able to find out more about the recreational facilities earmarked for the new Thornton Heath leisure complex, at a fact-finding event on Thursday 6 December.
Crystal Palace Football Club will be the venue for event, where full details of the Croydon Council project supported by a £2.8 million lottery grant from Sport England will be revealed, along with a large 3-D model of what the new complex will look like.
Arrangements are being made for an exhibition about the development, including the model, to tour a number of local public venues over the coming weeks. An information leaflet on the project is also being distributed to residents and user groups in the Thornton Heath area.
Building work will start early in 2002 on the leisure complex a much-needed and eagerly-awaited facility serving the local community and the project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2003. The facilities are being built on the site of the old Thornton Heath pool in High Street Thornton Heath, which was demolished earlier this year.
