Proposals to revamp Teddington High Street are to go out to public consultation.

Richmond Council secured a £134,000 award from Transport for London to carry out the improvements on the High Street.

A working group made up of residents, businesses and community organisations was established in March to research ways of improving pedestrian safety, parking and the environment.

The group has drawn up a list of proposals that it would like to see implemented early in the New Year.

These include installing a zebra crossing and central island between Park Road and the High Street to improve pedestrian safety, and creating a dedicated cycle route linking the Park Road and Waldegrave Road with the High Street.

Richmond Council will be bidding for further awards to finance future schemes to improve the environment of the shopping centre.

Detailed plans will be on display at Teddington library, Waldegrave Road, until January 4. Comments can be sent to Colin Tether at the Civic Centre in Richmond Road, Twickenham, or by emailing teddington.improvement@richmond.gov.uk
