Putney Art School has a new library after a campaign raised £6,000.
The campaign was spearheaded by the Friends of Putney Arts School, which was threatened with closure three years ago but saved after a public outcry.
Half the money was raised by the Friends through raffles and subscriptions and the rest came from students, who donated money from the sale of their works, the art school itself, the South West London Decorative and Fine Arts Society, the descendants of founder Sir William Lancaster and the Putney Society, which gave £1,800.
Other people donated books and the Wandsworth library service donated books and expertise in setting up the library.
League of Friends chairman Rob Dark said he was pleased to see so many people at the launch.
"It reflected the spirit and loyalty that has built up around the school," he said.
