HRH The Princess Royal paid a visit to Wandsworth Prison yesterday to unveil a plaque commemorating its 150th anniversary and to present bravery awards to eight officers.
After being introduced to the governor Stephen Rimmer, she visited the vulnerable prisoner unit, the laundry and the gym, where blind children from Linden Lodge School in Southfields were having their annual Christmas party.
Princess Anne is patron of the Butler Trust, which encourages effective care for prisoners by recognising excellence and innovation in prison staff.
