A MAN has been jailed for nine years after cannabis worth £600,000 was found in three vans in Bexleyheath.
Robert Terry, aged 40, of Ramsgate Road, Sandwich, Kent, had pleaded not guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to conspiracy to supply a class B drug, after smuggling cannabis resin and herb from Holland.
He was caught near Bexleyheath after an international operation between the National Crime Squad, Dutch police and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise.
Officers had been watching while the drugs were being transferred to three vans for distribution. After a short time, the vans set off and were stopped by the National Crime Squad.
Detective Inspector Stewart Slater from the National Crime Squad said he was pleased with the result at court.
He added: "This is the culmination of over a year's hard work by my officers. Throughout this operation we have had support and assistance from Her Majesty's Customs and Excise, the National Criminal Intelligence Service, the Dutch Police and other branches of the National Crime Squad."
