A BROMLEY couple who have just celebrated their diamond wedding, say the secret of a long marriage is all about "give and take".
Jim, 83, and Queenie, 80, Franklin, of Labernum Way, met in 1939, just before the Second World War, and moved to Bromley in 1948.
Mrs Franklin, a former telephonist, said: "It wasn't love at first sight but our romance slowly developed.
"I think the secret of our successful marriage is that we are compatible and we haven't had any big arguments. We have had our ups and downs like other couples but we've always sorted things out."
She said she and her husband, who used to work for Bromley Council, are going out for a meal with their son, Michael and daughter-in-law Vanessa to celebrate.
