STANSTED-based property developers Sarbir Developments has won a gold award at the 2001 What House? Awards.o
Olympic rower Mathew Pincent presented Sarbir with the best renovation award for the development at Gilston Park House at Gilston, near High Wych.
The development comprises the conversion of the Victorian Grade II listed country house formerly a country club and more recently offices for Smith and Nephew into 14 luxury houses and apartments.
The scheme suffered a major setback soon after the first unit was almost complete, when an electrical fault caused a fire which took hold of the top floor.
The judges were impressed with the reinstatement of the building and the inventive way in which it had been divided to create self-contained accommodation.
