A concert of carols for choir and audience has been organised to help raise funds for the development of a popular arts centre.

Ripley Recitals Association has organised the concert in aid of the Ripley Arts Centre, in Bromley. It will take place at the centre on Friday.

The carols will be sung by the Sine Nomine singers, who were brought together in 1994. The members of the choir are drawn from the Bromley, Orpington and Croydon area and perform in Kent. They usually give two concerts a year, singing varied programmes of church and secular music.

The singers will be conducted by Stephen Davies, who was Head of Music at St Olave's School from 1977 to 1994 and now enjoys a busy life conducting choirs and giving organ recitals in the UK and Europe.

Ripley Recitals Association has been a frequent user of the Ripley Arts Centre since its inception in 1968, so members decided to plan this concert to raise funds.

Association secretary Jeannette Holmes said: "It really is advisable to book in advance. I would hate people to come out expecting a good night and be turned away."

The Ripley Development Appeal has been set up to upgrade the facilities surrounding the beautiful music room at Ripley Arts Centre, including improvements to the Studio, developing an exhibition area, the levelling of floors and installation of a wheelchair ramp.

Dec 14, Carols for Choir and Audience, Ripley Arts Centre, Sundridge Avenue, Bromley, 8pm, £10 including festive refreshments, 020 8851 9116 or 020 8464 5816.
