BUMPY rides to a Meopham day centre are a thing of the past for pensioners now Age Concern has a new minibus.
Northfleet Age Concern won £28,000 from the National Lottery to buy a new 15-seater bus to take pensioners to the St John's centre, in Wrotham Road. The Iveco bus will replace the transit van which "was falling to pieces" according to Age Concern's chief officer Sue Wood.
She said: "The new bus will make trips to the centre far more comfortable for our clients and the drivers because the old bus was very bumpy."
Regional manager of the National Lotteries South East Community Fund, Dorothy Buckrell, said: "We are delighted to be able to support Northfleet Age Concern. The new bus will enable normally houseboud elderly people to travel to the day centre in the minibus."
