Crystal Palace Park was the venue for Bromley Primary Schools' Cross Country Championship, which attracted hundreds of eager youngsters from across the borough.
Usually, the event is run twice-yearly, in March and November, but the last two scheduled champ-ionships have been cancelled due to appalling weather conditiions.
Fortunately, the weather was good this time and the Year 3/4 boys' race was won by Joshua Kenny from Oak Lodge. The girls event in this age category was won by Elena Fearn of St Mary's.
First home in the Year 5/6 boy's race was Robert Evans from Highfield. He clocked 7mins 17secs and won by half-a-minute. The first girl was Perry Hall pupil Kara French.
Due to the number of schools which entered, as well as team and individual prizes, there were trophies for the highest-placed small, medium and large schools, as well as the top school, regardless of size.
Keston won the "Small" award for the very first time, while Valley Pmary won the "Medium" and Oak Lodge the "Large" prize. Oak Lodge also won the overall title.
The event was sponsored, as it has been for many years, by the Sydenam branch of Francis Chappell, who provided medals and certificates.
