Bromley enjoyed their first away of the Ryman Division One season with a splendid 4-2 victory over Walton & Hersham on Saurday.

Three goals in the space of eight first-half minutes sealed the match for the Lillywhites.

It was however, against the run of pay when Dean Thomas, in his first game since returning from his loan spell at Carshalton, beat Walton goalkeeper Luke Garrard with a 22-yard holf-volley in the 15th minute.

Five minutes later Gary Drewett made it two-nil, when he was first to a loose ball and Carl Bartley made it three when he headed in Drewett's cross.

Walton pressed forward in the second half but Bromley's defence, well marshalled by Mark Harris and Dean Frost, held firm and then increased their lead in the 63nd minute.

Again Drewett was the provider, this time back-heading Frost's throw into the path of Kirk Watts, who coolly side-footed the ball into the net.

With the game well won, Walton rallied in the closing minutes and scored twice through Gary Blackman and a penalty from Paul Harness, after Frost had been harshly adjudged to have handled.

During the midweek, however, the Lillywhites lost 3-1 at Tooting & Mitcham in their FA Umbro Trophy replay after taking a 20th minute lead.

Bartley was the scorer with a fine volley after good work by Drewett and Harris had set up the chance.

But Tooting equalised two minutes before the break when Steve Lawson headed home from an impossible-looking angle.

Bromley were under pressure for most of the second half but it was only in the last four minutes that Conrad Kane and Onochie ended their resistance.

This Saturday, Bromley play Wealdstone at Hayes Lane. Kick off is at 3pm.
