Ryman League Cup (Dec 11)

Two wins in a week for the Ding sees them into the Third Round of the League Cup and an outside hope of promotion, writes Tim Fuell.

Two goals from Errol Telemaque on Saturday gave the Ding a deserved 2-0 away league win at Wealdstone before Tuesday's home league cup tie with Worthing.

Yeading controlled much of both games with some great passing movements and against Worthing, it was Matt Miller who struck the opener after only seven minutes, from a Telemaque cross. The goal, however, brought about an awakening of their visitors and within nine minutes they were level.

Matt Hodson brought down Ben Carrington in the box and Gavin Geddes struck home from the spot. In the 21st minute, Worthing took the lead. From a free-kick, Wayne Lopez rose highest and looped his header home.

Yeading were to be the better side on the night and in the 33rd minute Miller slotted home his 18th goal of the season to equalise from a Tucker corner. The second half was almost all Yeading but somehow, thanks in part to some great goalkeeping from Worthing stopper James Wastell, Worthing kept the score level and the match went into extra time. The game was decided after only two minutes of the extra 30 when Ding's Michael Gorman drilled a shot home with the outside of his foot to see Yeading into the next round of the cup.

Yeading's joint manager, Naseem Bashir is leaving The Warren to take up the position of assistant academy director at Nationwide Division Two side Reading.

Mr Bashir said: "I've been offered a good opportunity at Reading and if I don't take it now I might look back and regret it.

"I've learnt a lot in my time at Yeading and I wish everybody at the club the best."
