Wingate & Finchley 0
Epsom & Ewell 2
Ryman League Division 3
Wingate and Finchley's erratic form continued with a disappointing home defeat by Epsom and Ewell on Saturday.
The Blues dominated the first half, and, with any luck would have established a useful lead.
But they were on the receiving end in the second period, unable to cope with Epsom's direct approach.
Wingate's Steve Forwell netted with a flying header from Richard Baum's cross after eight minutes, but it was ruled out for offside.
Danny Fitzpatrick also suffered when his shot hit the top of the bar, and Baum's header was well saved by keeper Dave Hyatt.
Epsom took the lead after 75 minutes through Simon Huckle, and Barry Stevens made sure of the points with a strong effort for goal in the dying minutes.
WINGATE & FINCHLEY: Goodman, Neilsen, Wilson, Donn, Pope, Olayinka, Butterfield (Wood, 79), Williams (Pearl, 52), Fitzpatrick, Forwell, Baum. Sub not used: Levack.
