GARDEN lovers have been rewarded for all their hard work in brightening up the borough.
The winners of this year's annual horticultural contests were awarded prizes by Hillingdon's Mayor, Cllr Catherine Dann, at the Civic Centre, Uxbridge recently.
Peter Mitchell, of Harefield, won first prize of £50 for his plot at the Hill House site, Harefield, in the category of 'Best Kept Council Allotment'.
Minet Nursery and Infant School, in Avondale Drive, Hayes won first prize in the Hillingdon in Bloom competition, sponsored by Sodexho Land Technology, Uxbridge College and The Chimes Shopping Centre.
The London in Bloom contest awarded certificates of excellence to 30 Hillingdon entries, including The Swan and Bottle restaurant, in Oxford Road, Uxbridge and Ruislip Fire Station, in Bury Street, Ruislip.
