R1 bus needed
With reference the re-routing of R1 bus. Despite a concerted effort by the people of Farnborough Village, it seems we have been completely ignored. There are very many elderly folk in the village who are still able to enjoy a trip to Orpington shopping centre. But this will be made difficult if they have to change buses or have to catch the 358 which goes to Orpington station. Surely public transport should be a service to help the public. I understand the Mayor of London wishes more people to use public transport. So think again London Buses.

It's rubbish
Owing to the inefficiency of others who no doubt earn a reasonable pay packet, I've now discontinued salvaging paper, cardboard, junk mail and magazines, which helped offset council expenditure. In the last six months, salvage has often not been collected, causing a build up of paper products, dumping loads on to refuse collectors. Perhaps the council will advise through your interesting paper when there is a more efficient service. I'll then do my bit as a good citizen and salvaging again.

Silly season
Christmas Greetings! It's that time of year again, the silly season! Over crowded shops and queues everywhere, with people panic-buying food as if the supermarkets were going to be closed for weeks. Some people spend excessively by credit card, accumulating debts which may not have cleared by this time next year. Many are buying, eating and drinking too much. Maybe the carol "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" should be re-worded as "greed, hypocrisy and selfishness" It's all simply yule-tide madness!

Good efforts
Just a note to thank you for your recent editorial having a go at Bromley Council's iniquitous council tax rises. If there is any prospect of a concerted campaign (as you have said within the law) I would like to hear about it, whether it's mass letter writing, a protest march or whatever. Thanks again for your great efforts on behalf of Bromley tax payers.
