It would appear that the war in Afghanistan is coming to an end. Now is the time for us to look at what we've achieved. We have successfully overthrown the Taliban. I must admit that I don't remember the Taliban figuring highly in my thoughts before we started attacking them but that's by the by, I suppose.

From what I remember the only reason we attacked them in the first place was because they refused to give up Osama Bin Laden. Now we're involved in helping the country set up a new government, we'll be there for years providing aid and cash and, as far as I can see, we still haven't caught Bin Laden.

So, now we are casting around for someone else to attack. The Iraqis are top of the list. As I remember we bombed them a few years ago without making them see things our way and failed, so now we're going back to have another go. Who knows, Bin Laden may turn out to have been staying with Saddam all along.

Then we'll look pretty silly won't we? We bomb Afghanistan to find Bin Laden and he's not even there?

When will this stop? Do we have to bomb every country in turn until they agree with everything we (by 'we' I mean the Americans) say and do? Because if that's the case, I think I'll buy some shares in arms manufacturers, we're going to need plenty of bombs.
