Sutton is among an increasing number of councils trying to encourage residents to get used to using washable nappies.
They claim using washable nappies can save up to £600 per child each year and are hoping this will draw people into a scheme which aims to reduce the amount of waste that we dump on landfill sites.
The washable nappy comes with flushable biodegradable liners, so you just have to wash the outer cotton liner.
And if you cannot bear the thought of having to clean the used nappies, then why not pay someone to do so?
Two nappy laundering services operate in the Sutton area and on average cost £10 a week probably cheaper than buying disposable ones.
