I found your article on Mrs Evans's diary very interesting. We lived in Church Hill Road near Hayes Crescent. I went to Cheam High from 1941 to 1945, although it was not called that then.
When the flying bomb fell in Esher Avenue and the end of Wrayfield Road on Sunday, July 2, I was injured and was in St Anthony's Hospital for a week and had my 14th birthday in there. I was in the children's ward and at night we had to sleep under the beds.
