(Eastern Counties League Div Two South)THE HERONS surrendered their unbeaten run on Saturday with a pretty abject display in murky conditions at Holland Road, against a committed but one-dimensional East London outfit.
The first half was littered with mistakes by both sides which added little to the overall contest, with even Wanstead skipper Danny Burn's forays limited to just one in the opposition half. East London scored two tries to Wanstead's one, from fullback Gareth Jones, though East's tries were both converted to give them a 12-5 half time lead.
In the second half, both Jones and the London flyhalf swapped two penalties apiece with fifteen minutes remaining to leave the scores 18-11.
Wanstead threw everything at the opposition in the final stages and had two tries disallowed for forward passes, concluding a disappointing afternoon.
