RATHER against the run of play it was Beccles who scored first with their number eight scoring.
Clapton responded within minutes with a sweeping back move creating the opening for outside centre Dave Johnson to touch down, Douglass converted.
This was crucial in the match as Beccles scored two tries while Jim O'Shea was in the sin bin for not releasing the ball, converting one, while he was off and one more on the stroke of half time. All looked over for the club as they looked at 22-7.
It wasn't until twelve minutes from time that Clapton struck again. Quick ball from the forwards enabled the backs to weave their magic. Phil Woodwood broke clear and set up Damien Bateman, who ran in under the posts Douglass converting.
Another swift passing movement gave Bateman a one on one which he took with ease and scored in the corner.
