AFTER their 0-0 draw at Exeter in the FA Cup, Dagenham and Redbridge will be bringing the Grecians back to Victoria Road in what has proved to be a more than profitable replay.o
With last Saturday's game televised live on Sky, earning the Daggers an estimated £100,000 for television rights and £5,000 worth of gate money, the return leg on their own turf will grant Garry Hill's army double that figure, as it has now also been chosen as the live replay game on Wednesday December 19.o
Should Dagenham win, the extra £30,000 win bonus will take their tally to almost a cool quarter of a million.
The money will be a welcome addition to the squad after having various improvements to the ground and if the Daggers are to mount a serious title challenge, there may even be some money in the kitty left over to strengthen the team.
Hill said: "I think the game at Exeter went okay. We went down there to get a result but after drawing, we've got the advantage of playing at home now."
Should playing on home soil bring victory their way, the Daggers will face the visit of Premiership strugglers Ipswich in the third round.
Hill continued: "It's a great draw, but we've got to get a result against Exeter first. The fact that it's against another Premiership side is another big plus.
"The fact that we will be getting even more money from the live game is great. Everything is going well at the moment and this has come on the spin of a great run in the league."
After last year's plum draw against Charlton, where they forced them to a replay, the Essex outfit will certainly be looking forward to upsetting more of the big guns.
Exeter are currently sitting in 14th place in division three of the Football League, a position in which Dagenham will be hoping to join next season should be be promoted.
Exeter Chairman Ivor Doble said: "We were rubbish against Dagenham on Saturday. We need to lift our game at their place and start scoring goals.
"We can't count our chickens yet and nothing can be taken for granted against Dagenham and Redbridge. I expect a much better performance in the replay and we are confident of getting into the next round."
This Saturday, Exeter are at home to Kidderminster, who although sitting five places above them in the table, could be leapfrogged as they are only two points adrift.
Dagenham are at home to Margate, who are only two places behind them in the Conference, yet the seven point gap between the two means that at the worst, the Daggers will still finish the day in second place.
For the replay on Wednesday, December 19, against Exeter City, tickets are priced at £6 for children and senior citizens and adults £12 with the terracing £8 and £5.
Tickets will go on sale from 6pm tonight (Thursday) from the clubhouse and will be on sale from 11.00am until 8.00pm daily.
