I'D LIKE to thank a group of young lads who made my day in Enfield Town last Saturday.
I own a small camper van and as I'm nearer 60 than 50 I've been thinking about buying a moped or something small to put inside to use instead of cycling from campsites.
At the recent Caravan and Camping Show I found the perfect answer. A tiny Italian job, weighing in at a mere 32kilos, that collapsed into a carrying bag about 2ft x 3ft.
My family, and most of my friends, fell about with laughter at the sight of me perched like a pea on a drum. In fact one of my daughters, who's into Harley Davison's and Ducatti's, said: "Please tell me you're not going to ride round Enfield on THAT, Mum!"
"Of course, said, "I'm going to put a sign on my back saying I'm Sarah's mother", shock, horror.
Feeling slightly deflated I parked in Enfield Town and before I could turn the engine off I was surrounded by a group of excited young lads about eight or nine years old.
"Cor, can I have a go?", "Can I rev it?", "How much was it?","Wow, I'll swap it if you like, they said. "Their enthusiasm knew no bounds and as I drove off, to admiring comments, I had to really concentrate on not showing off and falling over.
Thanks, lads, you made my day.
