TWO police officers were stabbed on Saturday afternoon at Finsbury Park station.
Inspector Dan Tanner, of the British Transport Police, was called to help a girl who was being threatened by a man wielding a knife outside the Finsbury Park Tube and rail station in Stroud Green Road at about 1.40pm.
After calling for assistance from other officers, he stepped in to try and break up the altercation. However, the man turned when Insp Tanner placed him under arrest and stabbed him in the chest and the arm. A Metropolitan Police officer in his 40s from Islington station was also involved and was stabbed in the leg.
The officers were taken to University College Hospital. The Met officer was released that day and Insp Tanner was discharged on Monday.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "Inspector Tanner is sore and a bit shaken, but otherwise he is OK."
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and attempted grievous bodily harm. He was remanded at Horseferry Road magistrates court, and will appear at the Old Bailey on December 17.
Witnesses are asked to contect British Transport Police on 7391 5275.
