Surbiton beat league leaders Reading 1-0 on Sunday to stay third in the men's National League Premier Division and end the Berkshire side's 24-game unbeaten run, write Sean Cotter and Jo Halpin.

The only goal of the match was scored by Jimmy Wallis from a 23rd minute penalty corner. But Surbiton had to thank their former Olympic keeper David Luckes for a series of saves which preserved their lead.

Teddington dropped to fourth after a 5-0 home defeat at the hands of second-placed Cannock.

On Sunday, Surbiton play host to Hampstead & Westminster (Sugden Road, 2pm), while Teddington are at home to Canterbury (Chiswick, 1.30pm).

In the South Premier Division One, Richmond lost 2-1 at home to Beckenham Brett Galbraith scoring their only goal and Old Georgians suffered a shock 3-2 home defeat to Chichester, despite goals from Kulraj Liddar and James Tindall.

Epsom 2s won 3-1 at home to Brighton Richard Graham, Mark Bredin and Gary Slaughter.

Bottom-placed Old Cranleighans drew 4-4 at Fareham thanks to two goals each from David Knapp and Will Smith.

Oxted went top of South Premier Division Two with a 4-2 win at previous leaders Staines. Oxted's goals went to Adrian Carolan (two), Rich-ard Headlam and Richard Adamson.

Spencer beat Lions 3-2 at home, with two goals for James Rook and one for Chris Bloor.

Old Kingstonians lost 3-2 to High Wycombe Mathew Goldthorpe and Dan Roberts scoring while Epsom lost 2-1 to bottom team Tulse Hill. James Harris scored for Epsom.

In the Hampshire/Surrey Premier League, London Wayfarers went top after a 5-1 home win over Old Mid Whitgiftian, but London Edwardians lost by the same score to Wanderers. Barnes lost 4-3 at home to Andover.

In Surrey Division One, NPL-Lensbury won 2-1 at Thames Valley, London University beat Dulwich 3-0 and Bank of England won 9-0 against Sanderstead.

But Metropolitan Police lost 5-2 at home to Camberley and Walton & Weybridge by 3-2 at Goan.

In Surrey Division Two, Merton beat Cheam 1-0, but London Edwardians 3s stay bottom after a 3-2 home defeat by Surrey University.

In their last game before Christmas, Wimbledon 1s beat Eastcote 4-1 in the women's EHA Cup on Sunday, thanks to two goals from Karen Roberts and one each from Michelle Clarke and Jenny Buckham. The Dons will play Hounslow & Ealing in the next round.

Menzies Epsom's nine-game unbeaten run ended on Saturday when they suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat against Dulwich, who picked up only their second win of the season in South League Division One.

Wimbledon 1As took full advantage by beating Sunbury 3-2 to come within three points of Epsom at the top. Kate Penny, Claire Green and Sue Lockhart scored for the Dons. Surbiton 1s lost 1-0 to Hampstead & Westminister in South League Division Two.

Epsom 2s lost 2-0 to Reigate Priory in the Surrey Premier League, while Wimbledon 2s drew 0-0 away to Purley Walcountians.

In Division One, Spencer 1s thrashed Tulse Hill 2s 7-0, thanks to a hat trick from Kirstin Gayner and goals from Ali Harvey, Vicky Summers, Caroline Bell and Lindsay Spinks

In Division 2A, Spencer 2s drew 2-2 with Croydon MO Claire Kelly and Jo Rivers getting on the scoresheet and Wimbledon 3s lost 4-0 to Oxted in Division 3A.

Spencer 3s drew 0-0 with Leatherhead in Division Four, while their fourth team won 4-1 in a friendly against Wanderers. Spencer's goalscorers were Louise Wilson, Zo Thomas, Milly Jack and Sarah Scott
