Barnet Football Club's sloping pitch advantage for home games has been transferred to the political campaign.
Mr Alan Williams, Labour leader of Barnet Council, has repeatedly been seen openly supporting proposals for the new stadium. We have a situation where Barnet Council proposed that an area of Green Belt (situated in a flood plain) be the site for Barnet Football Club's new stadium.
Barnet Council is changing its Unitary Development Plan in order to allow Barnet Football Club to build on the site that Barnet Council proposed.
Meanwhile, at the Barnet Council Forum meeting of December 5, Councillor Pauline Coakley Webb said that she could not offer an opinion on the Barnet Football Club proposals as that would show a bias. She was requested to arrange a public meeting so that residents can air and discuss their opinions. She refused to do this, once more on the basis that it would show bias. You would be forgiven for thinking that this is the story line from political fiction.
To stop this farce becoming more 'unlevel', I call for Barnet Council to hold a public meeting early in the new year to discuss the proposed new stadium.
