It is clear from the coverage in the Barnet and Potters Bar Times this week (December 13), that local residents are totally opposed to the Barnet FC planning application that includes the building of the additional 10,000-seater football stadium.

Barnet FC fans writing in support of the 'stadium plan' do not live in the area affected, so their support is flawed (Fans show their support for Bees stadium plan', Times Letters, December 13). Your paper printed one from supporter in Selby, Yorkshire, of all places. Perhaps they would like to come back and live in Barnet Lane, Fairfield Way or Grasvenor Avenue. Some people in these roads are trying to sell, but no one will buy. Surprise, surprise.

As to 'Question time with Tony' (Times Group, December 13), the questions asked clearly demonstrate the opposition to the proposed Barnet FC development. The answers were more like a PR stunt. Mr Kleanthous did admit that the question: 'what benefit is the proposed stadium to nearby residents?' is a 'very hard question to answer'. Local residents say it's an impossible question to answer.

Since it is only local people whose lives will be affected by the Bees stadium plan, it is only they who should decide for or against it.
