After the unprecedented success of the London Mozart Players' New Year's Day concert at the Fairfield Halls last year, the orchestra will return on January 1 with Alasdair Malloy's specially-devised extravaganza, It's About Time.
Malloy is well-known throughout Britian as an extraordinary musician of many talents he is a percussionist with the BBC Concert Orchestra, a world expert on the glass harmonica and a creator of school and family concerts which he exuberantly presents with the help of a few props, unusual instruments and of course, lots of audience participation.
The programme is designed for all ages, from toddlers to great great grandads and grandmas. It includes Mozart's A Little Night Music, Chopin's Minute Waltz and Youmans' refreshing Tea for Two. Haydn's Clock Symphony is the starting gun for this musical adventure and other musical clocks mark this whirlwind tour.
And just in case it all becomes a little too whirlwind for the youngest in the audience, there is a free playroom next to the concert which is available for accompanied children.
January 1, It's About Time, New Year's Day Family Fun Concert, London Mozart Players with Alasdair Malloy, Fairfield Hall, Croydon, 3pm, under-fives free, under-16s £5 anywhere in the concert hall, all other tickets are £5-£15, 020 8688 9291.
