Epsom & Ewell moved into seventh place in Ryman League Division Three on Saturday after an impressive away win over Wingate & Finchley. It was only the second home defeat of the season for the north Londoners.
Epsom nearly went ahead in the opening two minutes, but Simon Hatton's effort was blocked by the keeper.
Wingate then got the ball in the net, only to be flagged for offside and their best spell came just before the break, but Dave Hyatt was on hand to repel their efforts.
The second half saw Epsom in command and Huckle had chances to score, before Micky Owen hit the side-netting and a penalty claim was turned down.
The visitors finally scored on 75 minutes, when Huckle hit a low shot into the bottom corner and Barry Stevens made it 2-0 soon afterwards.
l Epsom & Ewell Reserves were knocked out of the Suburban League Cup on Saturday, losing 3-1 to Metro-politan Police. Aaron Phil-lips, on his debut, scored.
