Secondary schools across the borough are to get a £63,000 cash boost to raise literacy and numeracy standards. Education and Skills Secretary Estelle Morris announced last week that every secondary school will receive a cash handout of £4,500 to fund booster classes in maths, English and science. Following last week's primary school league table results, which saw Hounslow battling with the UK average, this funding aims to address the slow progress children make between ages 11 and 14.
