FOLLOWING the swift passage of the government's anti-terrorism bill through the Commons, despite widespread unease about many of its provisions, residents of the Wanstead and Redbridge areas may be wondering what has happened to our local MPs.
Not one of those who recently voted in the House to adopt the European Convention on Human Rights, has voted against the government's decision to suspend the clause prohibiting detention without trial.
Surely "rights" belong to "the people", not to governments and their whips, and one person detained without trial will always be one too many.
