AS you can see, Johnston Pond has returned to its former glory.
Woodford Green Amenity Group in the latter half of last year approached the Forest Manager of Epping Forest to see what could be done about the deplorable state it was in, particularly as a result of duck weed, rubbish and the overflowing caused by the build-up of silt.
The pond was completely emptied and de-silted. The natural spring and rainwater filled the pond up within a few weeks. The sump which was in there has been cleaned up and the wild life has now returned. Woodford Green Amenity Group continues to pick litter throughout the year to keep the pond and surrounding areas as clean as possible.
I would like to thank the Conservators of Epping Forest for their commitment in restoring a local landmark and helping to keep Woodford.
