SCHOOL DAY: More school-children will attend Saturday's game against Blackburn than fans of the visitors, according to ticket sales figures. While Blackburn have taken only 1,100 of their 3,000 ticket allocation, the Addicks have distrib-uted almost 2,000 to schools from as near as Charlton and Greenwich, and as far as Medway, Maidstone and Chelmsford. Chief executive Peter Varney said: "Children are the future life-blood of the sport and it is fantastic news that our offer has been taken up by so many schools so quickly. Every child will receive a gift pack and I know they will have a great day out and add to the fantastic atmosphere."
BIG DAY: The final stage of development work on The Valley was taking place this week with seats being installed in the new north-east corner of the ground. The area, which will become the new family section, should be completed in time for Saturday's match against Blackburn, which should see the stadium's
largest attendance since 1977.
CLAUS SECOND: Claus Jensen was runner-up in the Danish Footballer of the Year awards to Bayern Munich striker Ebbe Sand.
YELLOW PERIL: Fans travelling by car to the match at Fulham on Boxing Day will still have to pay to park at meters. Wardens and tow-trucks will be in operation around Craven Cottage. Tickets are sold out.
