A WARNING to take extra care during the festive season has been made by London Fire Brigade.
Despite most people being at home to keep an eye on things, brigade safety expert Mick McGurran says: "People must always be vigilant about the risk of fire in the home. But with Christmas come new potential dangers."
Care should be taken in keeping decorations away from naked flames and ensuring candles are safely placed away from children and pets.
Again, the Brigade stresses the importance of installing a smoke detector.
