NURSERY places at University Hospital Lewisham will increase by 50 per cent when the creche is expanded, thanks to £210,000 of Government money.
At the moment, 50 children, aged three months to five years, are looked after by a team of 18 staff during the day.
The expansion will mean an evening and weekend service will be set up and an extra 24 children can be after looked in the nursery from this spring.
The new-look nursery will have an additional room, upgraded facilities, a new staff room and improved toilet facilities.
Abacus Day Centre Nursery manager Amanda Lambert said: "Staff at the hospital are extremely excited by this development.
"The expansion will give us one extra room, which means more staff can use the nursery for their children.
