HARLOW nightspot owner Luminar has joined forces with Essex Police to encourage drivers not to drink and drive this Christmas.
The company, which owns Jumpin Jaks and the Chicago Rock Cafe is taking part in this year's drink-drive campaign which was launched on Saturday.
The Portman Group has launched its 'I'll Be Des' campaign, which asks one member of each group to be the designated driver and not to drink any alcohol.
Chicago Rock Cafes and Jumpin Jaks are offering free soft drinks to the nominated driver in each group.
Chief Inspector Tom Diment, of Essex Police's mobile support division, said: "The support given by Chicago Rock Cafe and the Portman Group is most welcome.
"Such initiatives as free soft drinks for the designated driver are a positive action which I hope helps make Essex a safer place.
"I urge all drivers to realise their responsibilities over the Christmas period and not to drink alcohol and then drive."
