The AJS & Matchless Owners Club celebrates 50 years of existence this January. Our annual rally, The Jampot Rally is being held over the August Bank Holiday weekend at Hadlow, near Tonbridge in Kent. As a thankyou to those who produced the machines that our Club exists for, we should wish to make contact with and extend a welcome to as many ex- AMC (Associated Motorcycle) employees at this event as possible.
As you may be aware, Associated Motorcycles who manufactured AJS and Matchless motorcycles were based at Plumstead and were for many years one of the largest employers in the Greenwich, Woolwich and Plumstead area. The Factory closed in the late 1960's with production for a period transferring to Birmingham then Andover following the take-over by Manganese Bronze/Norton Villiers.
I hope that you will be able to assist and that the attached are suitable for reproduction. Should you wish to contact me prior to proceeding, please do not hesitate to contact me on 01732 761773 or my mobile 07801 460667.
For your information, the photograph attached to the article shows members of the Kent Section of the Club prior to a recent run from Hadlow, scene of the rally.
