I wonder how many Lewisham residents realise the council is no longer collecting unwanted items.
Upon telephoning to ask if it would collect an old television, I was told the service was no longer available as the new refuse dump was open and free.
When I rang another number, I was told the service was being discontinued and there was no more money left in this budget.
I enquired what people were supposed to do if they could get to the tip. The answer? Perhaps neighbours or relatives could take them or several people could get together and hire a van!
It seems to me the council is encouraging fly-tipping. How long is it going to be before there is an accident with children being shut in fridges and freezers that have been dumped.
