I WAS pleased to see Lewisham Council will be repairing several roads in the borough, including some in my ward of Downham. I have been telling them for some time priority must be given to that task.
However, some of the roads being repaired in Downham have only just had road humps put into them, and residents are rightly annoyed at the waste of money involved in putting them in, then digging them up again.
It looks like the "joined up thinking" we were promised with Lewisham's new system of governance isn't happening
Rather, as I warned, with all decisions being rushed through one small "cabinet" of councillors, a lot of silly mistakes are being made. There are not enough controls.
What a pity the government is forcing all councils to adopt this foolish way of running things.
