BOXER Michael Grant, who fights for Haringey police out of the Tottenham Sports Centre, is hoping to use his recent National Amateur Boxing Championship (NABC) victory as a springboard to fulfilling his dream of fighting at the Olympics and then turning professional.
The lightweight secured a 15-11 points victory over Jay Jennings at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London last week to take the NABC title in the under-60kilo division.
"I was very pleased to win, because he was a very awkward fighter and he went all the way with me," said the former England schoolboy captain.
Grant, who has just turned 18, has already won three schoolboy titles.
His fighting has taken him to South Africa and Las Vegas and now he hopes it will also lead to a trip to Athens for the 2004 Olympics.
