RICHARD MEAD, a pupil at Birchwood High School in Bishop's Stortford, recently came away from the Bishop's Stortford and district Schools Cross Country Championships with another title.
Richard, 15, is a successful member of the Newham and Essex Beagles running club and can add the district title to his long and growing collection of impressive achievements on the track and in the field.
Other runners from the school also performed well and the school's head of PE, Darren Jones, was very pleased with his pupils' performances:
"The team from Birchwood School acquitted itself well, with all runners giving their all during the race. Of particular merit was Jonathon Clarke, 13, of Bishop's Stortford who finished his age group in fourth after a very good run.
"But the highlight of the day was Richard, who completed the course a clear 36 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
"Our congratulations go to Richard on such a successful run and on this well deserved championship title."
