I read with interest the article about speech and language therapy at St Anns School and felt it important to make a parental response.
The LEA response (via Trevor Cook) is an interesting play on words in that it covers up the reality of the situation.
The truth is that the majority of children assessed as needing speech and language therapy are not receiving their full entitlement.
School therapy programmes form part of, or are complementary to, speech therapy treatments as agreed by a qualified speech therapist. School staff are not qualified speech therapists.
Parents have been waiting for an official response from the LEA to see how they plan to fulfil their legal obligations.
Trevor Cooks comments make it appear that legal action will unfortunately be necessary.
