THE Racewalkers from Loughton Athletics Club have boosted the men and womens placings in the Essex Leagues with a good showing at the Ilford ten kilometre race.
The Loughton team took third place in the Open event, leaving the mens team in second place and the womens third in the Essex League standings.
Paul King led the Loughton team home in sixth place in a time of 58min 34sec, followed by Peter Cassidy in 11th, Eric Horwill, 17th, Ken Livermore, 19th and Pam Ficken, 20th.
Meanwhile at a frosty Trent Park, Cockfosters, the cross country runners competed in the Chingford League race.
Oliver Heeks consolidated his position as joint leader in the individual league classification with a fifth place finish in the boys under-13 race.
Amy Stubke moved up to third in the league after coming home in fourth place in the girls U15 race.
While in the U17 womens race Sian Slade cemented her stranglehold on the individual league after coming over the finishing line first again.
