A SMALL gym has made a big name for itself in the tough world of Muay Thai Boxing.

Nemesis Gym, in the Europa Leisure Centre, in Erith, had two of its fighters, Wayne Aguis and Robert Rukwira, on the card at the Equinox nightclub, in Leicester Square, London, where TK Promotions organised several action-packed bouts, including several title bouts.

One of these was for the European title and was contested between Winston Frasier and Joerie Mes, from Holland.

Agius, 23 from Plumstead, took on Terry Wallington, representaing the Keddle Gym in Orpington at 69.85-kilos for the Southern Area title.

After five rounds, Agius triumphed when his dazzling array of technical skills and blocks earned the judges' vote.

Rukwira, also 23 and from Charlton, took on Carl Jason, of Knuckles Gym in Manchester, at the 63.5-kilos for the English title.

After a short burst of well-aimed blows and kicks, Rukwira successfully knocked out Carl to earn the Nemesis club its second belt of the night.

Both fights were fought over five rounds of two minutes duration and in accordance with full World Muay Thai Organisation rules.

The next show is scheduled for April.

The Nemesis gym is run by Robert Ashley and Michael Tekyi and also caters for classes in boxing and wrestling.
